Things to Do

What are some things to do while I'm visiting?

First of all, WELCOME to the beautiful Northwest Pacific Coast. There is so much to see and do here and you are coming in a nice time of season. Your PNW bucket list should include (and in no particular order): Since you are right here in Vancouver, you can start with taking a stroll at the Vancouver Waterfront Promenade and enjoy unique ice cream flavors at Salt & Straw! Vancouver Waterfront and its pier, shops, and restaurants are nine minutes’ walk from the hotel door. - Drive on the Scenic Highway 30 to see the Columbia Gorge on one side and the The Vista House at Crown Point followed by a drive up to see waterfalls. The drive will take you directly to viewing points where you can park your car and step out to see: Latourell Falls, 2.4 miles; Shepperd's Dell, 3.6 miles; Bridal Veil Falls, 4.5 miles; Wahkeena Falls, 7.8 miles; Multnomah Falls, 8.3 miles; Oneonta Falls, 10.5 miles; Horsetail Falls, 10.8 miles; Ainsworth State Park, 11.8 miles. -The Amtrak Station is a five-minute drive if you want to go to Seattle or down to California. -If you have the ability, this is an overnite trip and scenic drive. The order is a full circle from and back to Hilton Vancouver, so if you are staying somewhere else adjust the order to form the most efficient route to see: a) Mt. Hood b) Smith Rock c) Crater Lake d)Florence, Oregon (Beach!) e)Butte Creek f)Scenic drive back to Vancouver -More local areas to see in downtown Vancouver and Portland: a) Portland Waterfront Promenade b) Visiting Powell's Bookstore is a MUST. c) Go try Voodoo Donuts. It's a Portlandia Vibe d) Portland Japanese Garden e) Rose Garden f) Pittock Mansion (bring your hiking shoes) g)Silver Falls h) Hoyt Arboretum i) Lan Su Chinese Garden j)Visit Portland Saturday markets. Also Sunday markets! k) Visit Lake Oswego Saturday Market. l) If you are here on a Thursday, Wilsonville Thursday market from 4pm. m) If you are into stand up paddle boarding and kayaking there are many places to rent gear and enjoy Lacamas Lake on Heritage Park. Enjoy!!

What places do you recommend to eat?

There are many cafes all around Vancouver and Portland area. Certain ones that have a distinct Portland touch are: 1) Have lunch on the Portland Spirit Cruise and see a beautiful view of the Willamette River. 2) Voodoo Donuts. It's definitely a distinct vibe! 3) Have lunch at Portland City Grill. They are on the 30th floor of the building and you get a spectacular view of the city. Be wary, it's pricy. 4) Nong's Khao Man Gi (non halal) 5) Food Trucks in the following cities are always a hit: Portland, Lake Oswego, Beaverton. Bon Apetit!
